    CHARACTERISTICS
    • TypeVino rosso fermo
    • Location Tuscany
    • Grapes sangiovese 100%
    • Sensations The sense of sight is the first to be satisfied. CastelGiocondo immediately presents itself with an intense and brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose, fruity notes predominate, ranging from raspberry to currant, with vague hints of blueberry; the elegant floral note that emerges after a few moments is pungent and surprising: unmistakable hints of violet. As it opens up, the spicy and tertiary notes due to long ageing are released. Cinnamon, pepper and leather chase each other and, on the finish, a hint of balsamic reminds us of its extreme elegance. In the mouth, it is totally enveloping and impresses with its harmony, dense tannic texture and mineral sensation. The finish is long and persistent.
    • Vinification The Sangiovese grapes were harvested by hand and, once in the cellar, underwent a meticulous selection process. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with frequent pumping over, especially during the early stages. The wine was then subjected to a long ageing process in wood, where it had the opportunity to mature, refine and balance. This was followed by a period of 5 years in the cellar and a further refinement of a few months in the bottle.

"Castelgiocondo" Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Magnum 2019
    • When the sign marking the entrance to the village bears the magical word Montalcino, the heart of any wine lover leaps in their chest. Here, the Frescobaldi family owns a historic winery located near the village of Castelgiocondo. Needless to say, Sangiovese is the only variety grown in the vineyards, which are excellently exposed and tended with meticulous care. Located between 300 and 400 metres above sea level, the vineyards on this estate guarantee particularly low yields, producing wines with infinite longevity. Brunello Castelgiocondo is only released onto the market when it is truly ready, i.e. after a very long maturation period in the cellar, in barriques and large barrels. It is a wine of great structure, elegant and balanced, with intense aromas and great finesse.

Thirty generations and over 700 years of history. With these two “calling cards”, the Frescobaldi company presents itself on markets around the world as an absolute leader with the aim of being the most prestigious producer of Tuscan wine. Today, the company can count on an endless area of vineyards. We are talking about over 1,000 hectares, spread across the most interesting wine-growing areas of the region. Annual production is around seven million bottles and includes all the most important appellations, from Chianti to Pomino, Montalcino and Maremma. Traditional varieties are grown in each area, thanks to a perfect knowledge of the specific terroirs. Never has experience made such a difference as in this case.
