Imbottigliato all'origine dalla maison Louis Roederer
Louis Roederer's 2021 vintage collection 246 was born in a year that tested even the most experienced vineyards: minimal yields, slow ripening, and a climate that demanded absolute precision. It was precisely these challenges that gave rise to a cuvée that speaks of resilience and craftsmanship. Imagine three souls coming together: the luminous freshness of Chardonnay, the deep structure of Pinot Noir and the vibrant touch of Meunier. Around them, the hand of the Maison weaves time into the blend: the Perpetual Reserve (2012-2020) and wines aged in oak, an aromatic heritage that accompanies and amplifies the 2021 vintage. A golden light sparkles in the glass. The perlage is fine, almost impalpable. The nose reveals ripe yellow fruits, candied citrus fruits, hints of toasted wood and a subtle vanilla, like a barely perceptible signature. The palate is like a walk on chalky ground: fresh, salty, precise. The effervescence is creamy, the texture velvety, the finish long and subtly smoky. A sensation of rare balance, like a story that ends with the right word at the right moment. A great Champagne with identity and character, perfect for celebrating, for surprising, or simply for those who love bottles that have something to say.
When wine is a family affair, one might say. Because Louis Roederer, one of the best known and most appreciated Champagne houses, is also one of the last wineries in the region still owned by the same family that founded it. That was back in 1776. The company is located in Reims and, since its inception, has distinguished itself from all other maisons that purchased large quantities of grapes from merchants, focusing instead on acquiring vineyards and plots in the best regions. The idea was to create great wines by having total control over production, from the vineyard to the bottle. The result proved the Roederers right, and today they can count on a property of about 240 hectares, divided between the three best crus in Champagne, located between the Montagne de Reims, the Côtes des Blancs, and the Vallée de la Marne. The company's flagship wine is undoubtedly the iconic Cristal, although enthusiasts around the world recognise that all the maison's wines have a style that is difficult to match. Today, Maison Louis Roederer is the largest producer of biodynamic Champagne.
