    CHARACTERISTICS
    • TypeVino rosso fermo
    • Location Piedmont
    • Grapes 100% Dolcetto
    • Sensations A wine with an intense red colour and purple reflections. Thanks to its terroir, you immediately notice an exceptional fruity profile of blackberry, raspberry and cherry with a hint of spice. In the mouth, the full and enveloping tannins give sensations of volume and roundness. The acidity, well balanced with the fruity sensations, gives persistence and flavour to the long aftertaste. Versatile, enjoyable, fresh.
    • Vinification 56% of the grapes ferment in wooden vats as whole bunches, as harvested from the vine, while the remaining 44% of destemmed and crushed must is vinified in stainless steel vats at 28-30°C with frequent pumping over to optimise polyphenolic extraction. Fermentation continues until the sugars are exhausted at a controlled temperature of 25-26°C. Ageing: the first part (whole bunches) is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels and the second part (crushed and destemmed must) in cement. After about 6 months, the two fractions are blended, followed by bottling and further ageing in the bottle.
    • Alcoholic strength 12.5% vol
    • Allergens Contains sulphites

    • Fontanafredda

    "La Lepre" Langhe DOC 2024
    • La Lepre comes from the hills of Diano d'Alba, a Dolcetto with an authentic character, the product of a land that never ceases to express itself. Its intense ruby colour anticipates a fragrant bouquet of cherries, blackberries and violets, intertwined with subtle spicy notes that invite you to take your first sip. On the palate, it is fresh, harmonious and pleasantly savoury, with soft tannins that enhance its drinkability and a clean, balanced finish. Vinification, partly with whole bunches and partly in steel, gives depth and dynamism, while maintaining the typical expressiveness of Dolcetto. It is a wine that speaks the language of the most authentic Piedmont, one that effortlessly accompanies home cooking and traditional dishes. Perfect with tomato risotto, agnolotti or oven-baked white meats, La Lepre is a red wine that invites you to return to your glass, each time with a smile.

Founded by the first King of Italy in 1858. This inscription on the Fontanafredda website is enough to convey the significance of a company that to describe as “historic” is almost an understatement. Fontanafredda was born out of a love story. It was given by Vittorio Emanuele II to his beloved Rosa Vercellana, the famous “bella Rosina”. Beyond this ante litteram gossip, however, Fontanafredda has always been a benchmark for regional and Italian viticulture in general. In fact, this winery holds many curious records. The first vineyard in Barolo was purchased in 1866 and the first wine was produced in 1870. In 1886, Fontanafredda's Barolo wines arrived in America and in 1887 the first concrete tanks in Europe were built. Finally, in 1959, the first classic method sparkling wine was produced, the precursor of Alta Langa DOCG. The last milestone in the glorious history of this winery, after its acquisition by Oscar Farinetti and Luca Baffigo, was in 2018. Since then, the company has been producing certified organic wines. Today, Fontanafredda exports to over 60 countries worldwide and has 120 hectares of vineyards. And in its cellars lie over 2.5 million bottles of Barolo waiting to be released onto the market. Long live... Fontanafredda!
