    CHARACTERISTICS

    • Sensations With its superb garnet red, almost black colour, the wine emerges from the display case with aromas of fresh fruit: cherry, raspberry but also plum. The bouquet becomes more complex with notes of cedar and graphite. The palate is splendid. Immediate from the outset, it evolves into a lively and fresh body. The silky, perfectly chiselled tannic structure supports the aromas centred on freshness and delicacy. The persistent finish makes this wine a delight for the taste buds. It will undoubtedly improve further with ageing.
    • Vinification Manual selection of the bunches. Optical selection of the berries. Gravity flow into wooden and stainless steel vats of various sizes, from 25 to 70 hectolitres. Preferential maceration at 8 °C. Direct racking into French oak barrels and tanks. Malolactic fermentation and ageing in second-use barrels (3/4) and tanks (1/4) to promote the expression of the fruit.

    Le Clémentin de Pape Clément Rouge 2018
    • Clémentin de Pape Clément Rouge 2018 is the “second vin” of the historic Château Pape Clément and elegantly reflects the style of the estate. In the glass, it opens with complex aromas of ripe black fruits – currants, plums and blackberries – intertwined with notes of sweet spices, tobacco and an elegant mineral touch. On the palate, it shows structure and depth, with perfectly integrated silky tannins and a freshness that brings balance and liveliness. The finish is long, persistent and slightly graphity, reflecting the unique terroir of Pessac-Léognan. A red wine of great finesse, capable of elegantly accompanying red meats, stews and mature cheeses, but also surprising in more sophisticated pairings.

      Château Pape Clément, in the heart of Pessac-Léognan, is one of the oldest crus in Bordeaux: its first harvest dates back to 1252 and it owes its name to Pope Clement V, former archbishop of Bordeaux. Recognised as a Cru Classé de Graves in 1959, it has enjoyed renewed glory thanks to Bernard Magrez, with the support of great oenologists such as Émile Peynaud and Michel Rolland. Its 90 hectares produce elegant reds from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, and refined whites from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle.
