Imbottigliato all'origine da Chateau Moulin Caresse- 1235 Rte de Couin, 24230 Saint-Antoine-de-Breuilh, Francia
Bergerac Rouge, a pure Merlot from Château Moulin Caresse, is produced on a sun-kissed plateau, where the vines are pampered by a mild climate and soil that knows how to give its best. It is no coincidence that this strictly family-run estate has been an institution since 1749. Today, it is run by brothers Benjamin and Quentin Deffarge, who have successfully carried on the family tradition with an eye to the future. The estate, which obtained organic certification in 2024, is located a stone's throw from Saint-Émilion, in an area that has been breathing wine for centuries. Bergerac, in particular, is much more than just a designation. It is, in fact, a region that stretches along the Dordogne valley, between the borders of Périgord and Gironde. The AOC Bergerac, recognised since 1936, encompasses a unique oenological identity, made up of versatile wines capable of expressing freshness and crisp fruit. And this Merlot is living proof of that. In the glass, it surprises with its ruby red colour, which anticipates an inviting and clean aroma, with notes of fresh black berries, such as blackberries, blackcurrants and a hint of cassis. On the palate, it is fresh, fragrant and pleasantly lively. The tannins are smooth, giving way to a soft mouthfeel and a clean, persistent finish that invites you to drink another glass. A tip? Serve it slightly chilled to fully enjoy all its vitality. Pair it with grilled or roasted red meats, semi-mature cheeses or even pizza. It will be a real pleasure.
Château Moulin Caresse is a family business. For nine generations, since 1749. We are in the heart of south-western France, in a place that looks like a postcard. We are just 20 kilometres from Saint-Émilion, a stone's throw from Périgord. Here lie the 42 hectares of vineyards owned by Château Moulin Caresse, stretching across gentle slopes overlooking the Dordogne river valley. The soil is a perfect mix of clay and limestone, ideal for the traditional Montravel and Bergerac grapes. Today, the estate is run by brothers Benjamin and Quentin Deffarge, who have taken over from their parents Sylvie and Jean-François.
