Aromas and flavors of dark berries, black tea leaf and licorice. Some tart too. Medium body, fresh and fruity. Light, bubbly texture. Drink now.
The line dedicated to Bruno Ceci is easily distinguished by its beautifully decorated labels. They are signed by Riccardo Guasco and recall the figure of Bruno, riding his motorbike, who in the 1960s jotted down in his notebooks the notes that gave rise to the exceptional sparkling wine that bears his name. Lambrusco Spumante Bruno, Emilia IGT, is a Brut version of Lambrusco, with character and passion. Red and pleasantly effervescent, when poured it is covered with a fine and persistent foam. The nose is striking for the richness of its aromas, which recall wild berries, cherries and plums, with an intriguing herbaceous note and a hint of spice. In the mouth the tannic texture is present but not intrusive. Pleasantly fresh and savoury, the fruity and spicy notes perceived previously return. The finish is long and intriguing. The limited residual sugar, the right alcohol content and the correct tannic ratio make this wine an excellent snack companion, especially if the table is served with classic cured meats and traditional cheeses. A Lambrusco of tradition and at the same time the fruit of innovation.
If you search the Ceci company website on the Internet, you may be surprised to discover that the company's domain, its address, does not refer to the company. But to the product that more than any other represents it: lambrusco.it! After all, this is not too surprising. In 1938, in fact, grandfather Otello Ceci ran one of the most famous taverns in the Parma lowlands. Here, while enjoying traditional dishes, diners would taste the renowned Lambrusco that grandfather Ceci produced with grapes from local producers. Years later, his sons, Bruno and Giovanni, realised that this Lambrusco really deserved its success and, during the roaring '60s, transformed the osteria into a winery. Today, years later, it is the grandchildren, Alessandro, Maria Teresa, Maria Paola, Elisa and Chiara who run the business. A family business in spirit, but one that exports all over the world.
