Altemasi TrentoDoc Rosé Brut - Altemasi

A head-turning cuvée, this Altemasi Rosé Trento DOC Metodo Classico from Cavit. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (vinified in Rosé) constitute the soul of this successful and precious classic method sparkling wine. In the glass it is a pale pink colour with light copper highlights. The foam is compact, white and creamy, with a fine and persistent perlage. The olfactory profile, rich and articulated, has echoes of red fruits, with an accentuated presence of cherry, red apple and currant notes. The taste is full, harmonious, with a long lasting aftertaste. Cavit's Altemasi Rosé Trento DOC Metodo Classico lends itself to a multitude of combinations, although it is particularly suitable for accompanying aperitifs and soups. A different sparkling wine from the usual, the glass that breaks the mould and makes you fall in love.

Cavit means Trentino. One of the most important cooperatives in the area, it produces something like 70 million bottles a year. Contrary to popular belief, such a high number is not synonymous with industrial quality. Each bottle retains personality and wide-ranging aromatic suggestions. Cavit was founded in the 1950s, thanks to the commitment of a number of producers who were eager to relaunch the fruits of a region that is home to wine-making wonders. Il Consorzio delle Cantine Sociali (as it was called in the early years) grew from season to season, until today it has become one of the benchmarks of production, not only local, but Italian. Based in a beautiful 16th century building in Maso Toresella (TN), today Cavit continues to enchant with charming wines, perfect for those who seek quality and inspiration in every glass.

Technical Data Sheet

CHARACTERISTICS
  • TypeClassic Method Sparkling Wine Rosé Brut
  • Location Trentino
  • Grapes Pinot noir and Chardonnay
  • Sensations Soft pink colour with light copper reflections, creamy white foam, fine and persistent perlage. Complex aromas with fruity notes reminiscent of ripe cherry, currant and red apple. The taste is rich, well balanced with a very persistent aftertaste.
  • Vinification The grapes are harvested by hand and delivered in crates to the cellars where vinification takes place, carried out by slowly pressing only the whole Chardonnay grapes to separate the different fractions of must which, inoculated with selected lees, ferments at controlled temperatures in stainless steel containers. The wine made from Pinot Noir is obtained using the "submerged cap" system, which consists of leaving the must in contact with the skins until the first signs of fermentation begin; only then is the must separated and fermentation continues in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. In this way we can obtain a soft and delicate colour from the skin, a distinctive feature of Cavit's Trento doc rosé. In the following spring, the wine is bottled and left on the lees for at least 15 months. At disgorgement a small dosage of liqueur d’expedition is made.

Fresh and refined, this bright sparkler opens with aromas of graphite, dried herb and alpine wild flower. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, it offers ripe white stone fruit, pink grapefruit and a hint of brioche. Racy acidity and a polished, vibrant perlage provide the setting. KERIN O’KEEFE
