Pinot Grigio Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2021

The most classic grape variety of the Friuli region, Pinot Grigio, here in the interpretation of Casali Maniago, a winery of noble birth, which owns vineyards in the Colli Orientali area, a DOC area among the most appreciated by experts and enthusiasts. We are located on the hills of the Sottomonte Estate in the municipality of Buttrio, in the province of Udine, where the soil is predominantly marly clayey. Having reached full ripeness, the grapes are brought to the winery to be softly pressed, with immediate separation of the skins. This allows the winery technicians to obtain a limpid must to be sent to the next fermentation phase, which is carried out at a controlled temperature to favour the development and preservation of the most delicate and characteristic primary aromas. At the end of the transformation, the wine remains in the tank "sur lies", i.e. in contact with its noble lees, acquiring complexity and depth of aromas. This is followed by bottling and a resting phase of the bottles in the cellar before final release. Brilliant straw yellow in colour with slight auburn highlights, the nose of this Pinot Grigio reveals a delicate and pleasant bouquet, with fruity notes of Golden apple and floral notes of elder and almond. The finish is pleasantly citrusy with grapefruit and citron peel in fine evidence. The palate reveals a dry, fresh and gentle wine. White of excellent envelopment and persistence. The finish develops on pleasant mineral and varietal notes typical of the variety. An aperitif wine, it goes well with raw and cooked seafood appetisers, fish, shellfish and delicately flavoured soups.
