    "Il Preliminare" Basilicata IGT 2022
  • The name is Il Preliminare and it is an interesting white wine of Lucanian origin. The result of a blend of Aglianico del Vulture grapes, vinified in white, with Malvasia, Moscato and Chardonnay, it is processed in steel at a controlled temperature. After vinification it matures in the bottle for a couple of months before being put on the market, to the delight of the many enthusiasts who choose it to accompany fish lunches and dinners. It is ideal, in fact, when the dishes are delicate and noble, such as raw seafood, but also with freshwater fish. In the glass it has a beautiful bright straw yellow colour. On the nose, scents of exotic fruits, from pineapple to mango to papaya. On the palate, however, it stands out for its distinct tanginess and pleasant freshness, with notes of fresh fruit and vegetables.

    When passion is pure and sincere, there is nothing to do. It must be followed. And so it is that, no longer very young, at the age of forty, Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti, leaves his job and throws himself body and soul into a new adventure: to enhance the noble Aglianico del Vulture cultivated for generations in the family lands. It was 1998 and Cantine del Notaio was taking its first steps into the world of wine. To support Gerardo and his wife Marcella, there is Professor Luigi Moio, professor of oenology at the University of Naples Federico II. Success is soon overwhelming. Today the headquarters of the winery is in Rionero in Vulture, in the building of the Giuratrabocchetti family. Here there are ancient caves dating back to the seventeenth century that are used as ageing cellars. The wines of Cantine del Notaio, awarded by Italian and international critics, are today points of reference for their territory.
