Merlot Alto Adige DOC 2022

Alto Adige DOC, the Merlot of Cantina Bolzano is a great classic. Merlot, after all, is one of the noble varieties cultivated in South Tyrol for more than 100 years. Specifically, in this case, the grapes used come from selected vineyards that are capable of producing rich, highly concentrated grapes. Pure Merlot, the vineyards in this case are located at approximately 300 metres above sea level, on warm, sunny slopes in Settequerce, near Terlano and S. Maddalena. Harvesting begins in mid-October and the super traditional vinification involves alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation carried out in steel. At the end of processing, the wine matures for a few months in the bottle before finally being put on the market. Intense ruby red in colour, the bouquet is pleasantly fruity, with clear hints of red fruits and a light spiciness. On the finish, there is a delicate vegetal reminiscence. In the mouth, however, the flavour is intense and structured, characterised by a fine tannic structure. An excellent wine for the whole meal, this Merlot goes well with red meats, game and mature cheeses.
