    Merlot Friuli Grave DOC 2022
  • A young, ready-to-drink red, this 100% Merlot proposed by I Magredi is a great classic of Friulian oenology. Merlot, in fact, has always been one of the best-loved wines among wine-lovers and experts in the north-east, thanks to its pleasant and natural roundness and ease of drinking. The one proposed here, in particular, comes from a classic red vinification process, with fermentation and maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature for a period of 8-10 days. At the end of the transformation, the wine then matures, again in steel tanks, for a few months pending bottling. Intense ruby red in colour, on the nose this Friulano offers clear and easily recognisable sensations of red undergrowth fruit and, especially when young, also herbaceous notes. In the mouth, the flavour is soft, balanced, with velvety tannins. It goes well with all cured meats, but also with classic spaghetti alla carbonara, duck breast and roast suckling pig.

    The I Magredi estate was purchased in 1968 by Otello Tombacco, an entrepreneur from Oderzo, in the province of Treviso. Initially, the estate was divided between arable land, apple and peach trees and vineyards. The turning point came in 1985, when Michelangelo, Otello's son, after obtaining a diploma as an agricultural expert, started working in the family business. Within a few years, I Magredi was definitively transformed into a winery. The first part of today's winery was built in 1990 and has undergone extensions and modernisation of structures and technologies over the years. Today, the company can count on modern, state-of-the-art facilities with which to process the grapes from the estate vineyards. I Magredi is also an environmentally friendly winery. In fact, a powerful photovoltaic system has been installed at the winery, phyto-purification of the winery's waste water is carried out and an atomiser is used to recover and reuse excess water in the production of the wines. Theirs, therefore, are good wines that do not harm our health or that of the environment in which they are produced. Double satisfaction!
