  • Sensations Ruby red colour with a delicate garnet hint. Mineral aromas create a delicate intersection with morello cherry, black cherry and plum. The flowers and spices close in a finish with excellent olfactory persistence. The non-aggressive tannins and good acidity, in parallel with the typical softness and alcohol content, support the goodness of primitivo: a wine that was vigorous in the past, but elegant and lordly today.

    Primitivo Salento IGP 2020
  • For many, Primitivo is the very symbol of enological Apulia. A versatile grape variety strongly linked to its territory, over the years it has been able to carve out an increasingly important place for itself in the panorama of national viticulture. The one proposed here by Cantele is an IGT Salento, the result of harvesting grapes from both sides of the region. From the province of Taranto, which faces the Ionian Sea, and from the province of Brindisi, which instead insists on the Adriatic. Another particularity of this wine concerns the vine-training system which, as is traditional in this region, is partly bush-trained. An ancient system that makes it possible to obtain quality grapes but forces the wine-growers to work extra hard, since very little in this case can be mechanised. Matured in barriques for about 6 months, this Salento Primitivo presents itself in the glass with a beautiful ruby red colour, with an evident garnet rim. The aromas are clean and mineral, recalling morello cherry, black cherry and plum. In addition, flowers and sweet spices, the latter due to the moderate passage in wood. In the mouth, one then discovers non-aggressive tannins and a pleasant acidity that perfectly balances the softness due to the typical strong alcohol content. An elegant and elegant wine.

We are talking about Cantele, one of Puglia's best-loved and most appreciated wineries, by enthusiasts and professionals alike, in every corner of the world. A story in reverse since its beginnings when, in 1950, Giovanni Battista Cantele, from Pramaggiore in the Veneto region, and his wife Teresa Manara, from Imola in Romagna, decided to move from northern Italy to Puglia, in the province of Lecce. The founder of the family, it must be said, was already involved in the bulk wine market. The second path backwards is linked to the birth of the company. We are in 1979 and, in this case, the decision is to start with the marketing of bottled wines only, and then, over time, move up through all the stages of the production chain. The first harvest, in fact, dates back to 1992 and in 1999 the winery was created. Since then, the Cantele family's activities have continued unabated, until 2002, when the new winery was created in Guagnano, in the heart of the Salice Salentino DOC area. Today, the company is well established in the main foreign markets as well as at home, and in particular is among the most appreciated wineries in its region.
