Passerina Marche Bianco IGT 2021

Passerina, a white grape variety widespread in much of central Italy, particularly between the Marche and Abruzzo, is a distant relative of the Tuscan Trebbiano. Its curious name seems to derive from the fact that sparrows are particularly fond of its ripe berries. Vinified when perfectly ripe, this grape produces wines that are easy, fresh and naturally balanced. This is also the case of this Marche Bianco IGT proposed by Cantina Belisario, which is made from grapes from vineyards in Offida, in the province of Ascoli Piceno. Vinification takes place at a sister winery in the Piceno region, in the heart of the Passerina vineyard. Processed in thermo-conditioned steel tanks, after fermentation the wine is left to age for about five months, again in steel containers, before meeting the bottle. On the table it goes well with fish dishes, even elaborate ones. But it has sufficient structure and character to be able to be paired with white meat dishes or cheeses that are not overly mature.
