  • When it comes to Barolo, things get serious. Because this great wine of the Langa is not a simple product of its land. It's more of a passion and a religion at the same time. Each manufacturer follows its own liturgy. There are those who believe that Barolo should be the purest expression of a single vineyard, and there are those, on the other hand, who bottle wine that is the result of blending different plots, with different soils, exposures, and altitudes. Like a perfumer who aims to create the perfect essence, so it is for the Langa winemaker seeking the perfect balance and pleasantness of drinking. Caviòt is the result of this philosophy. A Barolo able to show its best already, at a young age. After two years of refinement in large casks, this wine has a beautiful ruby colour with light garnet reflections. The nose reveals the typical notes of Nebbiolo that recall flowers and in particular violets and roses. Then small red fruits and, on the finish, a pleasant balsamic sensation. In the mouth the texture is thick and silky. A wine with great balance in all its components, with soft and velvety tannins.

    This is the story of a dream come true. A dream that has its origins in the beautiful hills of the Langa, where Beppe Caviola, a budding young winemaker, began his small wine production in the 1980s. We're in Montelupo Albese. Here Beppe, together with his friend Maurizio Anselmo, rents his first vineyard, Barturot, and, like a local Steve Jobs, uses his parents' garage to create his first wine. Clearly, little more than an experiment, but already capable of attracting the attention of a great figure in the world of wine such as Elio Altare who sensed the potential of that young winemaker and encouraged Beppe to bottle his product. Thus, in 1991, the first Ca' Viola label was created. It's going to be a long ride from there on out. A continuous expansion and experimentation. In 2002 Beppe, with his wife Simonetta, moved the winery to Dogliani and here, at Villa Bracco, a modern centre was established in which production, consultancy and tourist reception coexist in harmony. So much has been achieved since the small family garage. But Beppe Caviola doesn't seem to be looking back. Rather, his gaze is always on the future and the next challenges to be faced.
