Compared to the 2015 vintage that I tasted at the same time, the Andrea Oberto 2016 Barolo Albarella is a bit tighter, more focused and linear in character. Both wines share a rather mild, lean-bodied approach, but this wine ultimately offers more length and persistence. However, it shows less intensity in terms of body and texture. The wine ages in oak for two years. The finish is extremely smooth, silky and tapered too, with a long, slow fade out.

Poached and spiced red cherries and red plums, with a walnut-like sheen of more savory aromas. There’s a bed of fine tannins supporting the palate, which holds bright and juicy red-fruit flavor that darkens and enriches the deep, long finish. Try this from 2024.

    Barolo DOCG "Albarella" 2018
  • Ladies and gentlemen, your attention, please. When it comes to a Barolo, respect is de rigueur. If only because of the lengthy processing that the initial Nebbiolo undergoes to become so extraordinarily elegant. Albarella, Barolo Docg signed by Andrea Oberto comes from quality grapes from its vineyards located in La Morra. Rigorous vinification and a long aging in wood for a period of about 2 years. Then, before being put on the market, it remains for at least another six months in the cellar. The time it takes to adapt to the new reduced environment of the bottle. It has a beautiful bright garnet color, slightly veiled by orange hues. On the nose it is fleshy, with notes of cinchona, tobacco and wild flowers. on the palate, however, it is well-structured. Despite everything, however, is also pleasantly drinkable, thanks to the good balance between all its components. Particularly fruit and acidity. Between now and 10 years from now, we can always count on it to make a nice roast dinner unforgettable.

Fourteen hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Langhe. The location is in La Morra, one of the legendary municipalities that fall under the Barolo appellation. It was here, in 1959, that the story of Andrea Oberto's winery began. He has been running it with passion and competence since 1978 with a single objective: to consolidate the initial project, making the wine of the farm a popular and quality product. A success. In fact, today Oberto's winery can count on an annual production of about 80 thousand bottles that reach the markets of Piedmont halfway around the world, to the satisfaction of many lovers of quality wines.
