"Puerto del Monte" Mencia DO Bierzo

45-year-old vineyards in Villafranca del Bierzo, in the heart of the region, where Mencia and Godello vines grow. Adriá Bodegas cultivates them with care and passion. We are between 450 and 700 meters above sea level. Grapes are selected in the vineyard and hand-picked at optimal phenolic ripeness. Arriving at the winery, they undergo 48 hours of temperature-controlled maceration and are then fermented for about 10 days at 28°C. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and a period of aging in stainless steel tanks, in contact with its own lees for 2 months. At that point the wine is passed into French and American oak barrels, where it rests for no less than 8 months. In the glass it has a beautiful deep cherry red color with violet hues. On the nose, aromas of black fruit, graphite and spices. In the mouth, however, a fresh acidity, balances the sweetness of the alcohol and integrates well with a touch of oak. Medium-bodied and long fruity finish. An extremely versatile wine, it goes well with flavorful red meat dishes.
