Tenuta Sant'Antonio - Via Ceriani, 23, 37030 Colognola ai Colli VR
Technically, this is a Cru, i.e. a wine produced from a single vineyard. Specifically, it is a Soave DOC, proposed by Tenuta Sant'Antonio, and obtained from the processing of pure Garganega grapes from the Monte Ceriani vineyard. We are located in the municipality of Colognola ai Colli, in the province of Verona, at about 200 metres above sea level. Here the vines have been sinking their roots into soil of ancient volcanic origin for over 30 years. Still grown using the traditional Veronese Pergola system, the harvest is carried out strictly by hand and the subsequent vinification takes place in steel, at a controlled temperature. Straw yellow in colour with greenish highlights, the bouquet is pleasantly citrusy, with notes reminiscent of grapefruit in particular. In the mouth it is fresh and long persistent, characterised by a bitter almond finish, typical of Soave. This is the white wine to be served with hors d'oeuvres and cold dishes, as well as delicate main courses of fresh and saltwater fish.
Tenuta Sant'Antonio was born in 1995 from the dream of four brothers. The Castagnedi family, winegrowers for generations, set out to make iconic wines, guided by research, experience and passion. Thus were born the fine products Valpolicella DOC and Soave DOC. Tenuta Sant'Antonio is located among the splendid slopes of Colognola ai Colli. The result of an ambitious entrepreneurial project, it is constantly evolving, continually pushing the boundaries of innovation to foster sustainability, excellence and international recognition. Today, the winery has 150 hectares of its own vineyards, 70% of which are located in Valpolicella, on the hill known as Monti Garbi, and 30% in the Soave area, on the prestigious Monte Ceriani hill. Annual production reaches around 1.8 million bottles, among all the references.
