Falanghina is certainly the Queen among the white grapes of our South. A vine that loves warmth and that knows how to give its best even when it is grown in decidedly torrid climates. A grape variety that, in most cases, is processed in purity to enhance its natural freshness. A good example is this Falanghina by Polvanera, from the area of Gioia del Colle. Processed exclusively in steel, in the glass it is a beautiful bright straw yellow colour. The scents are intense and fine. They recall bergamot, peach and apricot but also banana, chamomile and herbs. A complex but not complicated bouquet, that immediately invites you to drink. In the mouth it reveals itself as a creamy and balanced wine, fresh and sapid. A nice glass that can give great satisfaction, from aperitif to after dinner.
Filippo Cassano is the owner of Polvanera winery, a nice winery in Apulia that in a few short years has known how to impose itself on the market thanks to the quality of its wines. Today the company can count on about one hundred hectares of vineyards, mainly cultivated with the alberello system. All the typical varieties of the territory are cultivated, starting from Primitivo, which is considered the workhorse of the company, but also Fiano and Aglianico, as well as Falanghina of course. An advocate of organic farming, Polvanera is considered by his colleagues to be a true purist who uses only the simplest and most traditional processing techniques. No barrel ageing to avoid covering the best scents of the grapes, with the bottles left to rest for a long time inside the cellar dug out of the rock, where temperature and humidity remain constant throughout the year.
