"Il Pumo" Rosato Frizzante IGP Salento
  • Let's start with the name. The Pumo is an Apulian decorative object that has adorned balconies and handrails of ancient stairways for centuries. A symbol of nature's abundance and generosity, it is generally made of clay. The same clay that nourishes the Salento vineyards. Cantina San Marzano has created an interesting line of wines dedicated precisely to this curious object. The sparkling Pumo Rosato is - in particular - a hymn to freshness and conviviality. An invitation to celebrate life with a toast. It is made from red grapes typical of Salento, carefully selected to enhance the unique characteristics of this territory. The bunches, harvested at the right degree of ripeness, give the finished wine intense perfumes and very pleasant fruity aromas. Vinification takes place in autoclaves, where the wine matures for about a month, preserving freshness and vivacity. In the glass, it has a beautiful soft and brilliant pink colour, enhanced by a fine and velvety perlage. On the nose, it reveals a delicate bouquet of strawberries, tart cherries and raspberries, with citrus notes that provide freshness and vivacity. In the mouth, however, the wine captivates with its freshness and minerality, well supported by lively acidity and excellent balance. An ideal companion for a good aperitif, this sparkling rosé goes well with light appetisers and seafood and vegetarian dishes. Excellent as an aperitif, it is an ideal wine to sip in company on warm summer evenings or to accompany an outdoor picnic.

Imagine immersing yourself in the heart of Salento, amidst expanses of sun-kissed vines caressed by the breeze of the Mediterranean Sea. This is where you will find Cantine San Marzano, a fine winery that has contributed to the renaissance of Apulian wine. Founded in 1962 by 19 winemakers with a common dream, that of joining forces to face the challenges of an evolving market, San Marzano today has over 1200 members and 1500 hectares of vineyards. A cooperative soul founded on two essential values: respect and modernity. Respect for tradition, which translates into the deep bond with the land and the ancient know-how of the winegrowers. And modernity, which translates into an innovative vision of wine, capable of interpreting contemporary tastes without forgetting the authenticity of the land. An approach that can be found in the modern winery, where the grapes are vinified with care and attention, bringing out the best varietal characteristics. San Marzano's commitment also extends to sustainability. In fact, the cooperative has adopted an integrated production system that reduces environmental impact and protects biodiversity.
