Imbottigliato da Hans Rottensteiner SRL – Bolzano, Italia
Produced at the Nussbaumer farm in Missiano, this Pinot Noir Riserva Alto Adige DOC expresses alpine elegance in every detail. The vines, caressed by cool nights and bright days, sink their roots into sandy, calcareous soils that give them finesse and depth. Twenty-four months of ageing in tonneaux barrels give it delicate notes of vanilla and a silky texture. A refined, harmonious and persistent red, designed to enhance red meats, game and mature cheeses.
Roter Stein, or “red stone”. Nomen omen, a name is a destiny. This stone is not just a decoration, but represents the very foundations on which the entire history of this family rests. It is porphyry, a reddish volcanic rock that dominates the slopes around Bolzano. On this difficult, mineral-rich and decisive land, the Rottensteiners have been cultivating with dedication for centuries, even though the recent history of the family dates back to 1956, thanks to the vision of grandfather Hans, who began his adventure by selling bulk wine in Switzerland. In the 1980s, his son Toni realised that the future lay in bottling and absolute quality, and today the winery is run by the third generation, Hannes and his wife Judith, who are carrying on the family legacy with a fresh and contemporary spirit. But the Rottensteiners are not alone. The company is in fact the heart of an “extended family” that includes about 50 local winegrowers. These farmers, often linked to the winery by historical collaborations that have lasted for decades, tend small plots as if they were gardens, allowing the estate to draw on the best grapes from the entire Bolzano area and its surroundings. The production philosophy is clear and honest: wine must be elegant and sincere. The aim is to bring the purity of the grape variety and the imprint of the porphyritic soil to the glass. Another distinctive feature is the link with the five family farms, each with its own history and specific vocation, such as the famous Premstallerhof for Santa Maddalena or the Kristplonerhof.
