The Vintage is very distinctive across Barbaresco, thanks to its ripe, almost sweet fruit flavors. You definitely get them in the Barbaresco San Cristoforo. The wine emits thick aromas of cherry liqueur, dried blackberry and dark plum. It sports a deep garnet color with good intensity (Nebbiolo tends to lose color in hot vintages like this). The wine is very delicate in terms of texture, with soft tannins that barely grace the palate.

  • James Suckling 91

Lots of cedary accents here highlight deeper aromas of dried fruit and tar. The palate is only medium body, though, and the tannins wrap gently around the lightly herbal nuances. Drink now.

  • Wine Enthusiast 88

Violet, resin and wild cherry aromas mingle with whiffs of oak. The assertive palate is austere and a bit lean in terms of fruit richness, offering orange zest, unripe cranberry and espresso along with a sprinkling of sage. Assertive, astringent tannins leave a drying finish. KERIN O’KEEFE

    “San Cristoforo” Barbaresco DOCG
  • If Barolo is considered the King of Piedmontese wines, its worthy companion is undoubtedly Barbaresco. Generally considered more delicate than the vigourous Barolo, this Barbaresco proposed by Pietro Rinaldi is produced with grapes from a single vineyard located in the municipality of Neive called San Cristoforo. It is an additional geographical mention that identifies a cru of particular value. The processing is typical for the area and ends with a long ageing in large Slavonian oak casks of 25 hectolitres. It takes a minimum of 16/18 months to reach the right maturity. After all, this is a wine with great longevity, capable of maturing in the bottle for decades. Intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections, San Cristoforo recalls notes of flowers such as rose and violet, then balsamic and mineral sensations. In the mouth it is still fresh, with soft tannins and great elegance. When it is in season, this is the right wine to bring out the best in a very elegant white Alba truffle. A true marriage of love.

Barbaresco and Barolo. Then Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba, Arneis and even Moscato. The production of Azienda Agricola Pietro Rinaldi ranges over practically all the good wines of the Langa. A family tradition that has been handed down for four generations, from father to son with the same great passion. There are a total of 10 hectares of vineyards, all hilly, all with very different soils and exposures. And this is why each plot of land is able to give life to something unique, unrepeatable. Today the farm is run by a young and passionate team, always ready to take up the challenges of the new international markets, without losing sight of its deep ties with the territory of origin. This is another reason why Azienda Agricola Pietro Rinaldi has joined the Green Experience group, for the production of sustainable and organic wines.
