“Vigna Mandorlo”, located in the Scarrone subzone in Castiglione Falletto, is the origin of the Nebbiolo grapes used to produce this precious Barolo Scarrone DOCG. It is the result of meticulous processing of the best hand-selected grapes and a long, undisturbed skin maceration that allows the grapes to release everything they have accumulated in the vineyard. For ageing, classic oak barrels are used, capable of recombining the infinite components and softening the harshness. The resulting wine is rich in polyphenols which, in addition to giving the glass an intense and deep garnet colour, give the wine a powerful structure, austerity and, at the same time, great pleasure to the nose and palate. Patience and long ageing in the bottle allow this Barolo to express its charm and complexity. The bouquet is broad and persistent, floral, with hints of rose, and complex, even recalling notes of leather and tar (goudron). On the palate, it is dry, harmonious and velvety. This wine is suitable for long ageing and should be stored in the cellar away from light and lying down. Excellent with red meats, whether roasted, spit-roasted or grilled, and with game.
Cantina Giacosa fratelli: over 100 years of history. A long family history, built on values handed down from father to son. We are in Neive, in the province of Cuneo. This is where it all began, with four brothers, Leone, Giovanni Battista, Costantino and Giuseppe, who settled here at the end of the 19th century to work as sharecroppers. Of the four, however, only Giuseppe nurtured the dream of owning a winery where he could produce wine from the hills where he was born. And on a day in June 1895, this dream finally came true. He heard that a winery was for sale in Borgonuovo di Neive for three thousand lire. It was a sum he could never have afforded. Legend has it, however, that he had a dream that night and the next day he played the numbers that had been suggested to him while he was asleep in the lottery. It seems impossible. But with his winnings, he bought the winery. From generation to generation, the family has always managed the winery, with two clear guiding principles: naturalness and quality, at every stage of production, from the vineyard to the cellar. Today, Cantina Giacosa Fratelli has around 50 hectares, divided into different areas.
