A 70% Montepulciano, with 30% Sangiovese to back it up. Monsignore, Rosso Piceno Superiore, proposed here by Torre del Nano, was born from this perfect blend. The grapes come from the company's vineyards on the hills of Offida. The best exposures, guaranteed by the South/West slope, allow the grapes to reach perfect ripeness without haste. The Sangiovese grapes are harvested at the end of September. While the Montepulciano requires a few more weeks to reach the right degree of maturity. Harvested by hand, vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. The result is a red wine with a nice full structure and soft, ripe tannins. A beautifully balanced, elegant and long-lived wine.
