Jermann srl Località Trussio 11 Dolegna del Collio
Born in the heart of Collio Goriziano, Capo Martino in Rotârs is much more than a wine: it is a story of family, territory and passion. From the hill that gives it its name, once an observation point during the war, today a white blend is produced that embodies the most authentic soul of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Produced with traditional regional varieties, it ferments and ages in oak barrels for ten months, following the method handed down by Angelo Jermann, a symbol of artisanal savoir-faire that combines memory and innovation. The result is a golden, luminous white wine with an intense aroma of ripe fruit and dried flowers, caressed by hints of vanilla and hazelnut. On the palate, it is velvety, harmonious and extraordinarily persistent. Recognised as White Wine of the Year by Gambero Rosso 2019, Capo Martino is a tribute to continuity and excellence. A sip that tells the story of thirty years of history and a vision: that of transforming time, land and dedication into pure emotion.
We are in one of the most beautiful wine-growing areas in Italy, if not the world. This is where the Jermann winery is located. We are in the heart of Collio, on the north-eastern border with Slovenia. Here, the area is characterised by a mild climate, thanks to its proximity to the Adriatic Sea, and by a unique soil, ponca, a calcareous and clayey soil that gives the wines a high minerality. The history of the Jermann winery began in 1881, when Angelo, the great-grandfather of the current owner Silvio, planted the first vineyards in Ruttars, a hamlet of Dolegna del Collio. In the following years, the winery expanded and began producing quality wines, establishing itself as one of the most important wineries in Collio. Today, Jermann covers an area of approximately 200 hectares, of which 170 are vineyards and 20 are arable land. The vineyards are located in different areas of Collio, including Ruttars, Villanova, Lonzano and San Floriano. The grape varieties cultivated are typical of the area, such as Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling Renano, Friulano, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Still a family-run business today, Jermann has made quality and sustainability its core values. The winery is committed to a sustainable viticulture project, which involves the use of innovative techniques for vineyard management and the application of circular economy principles.
