Ripatransone is a village in the Marche region where you’ll find the narrowest alley in Italy. A tiny passage just 43 centimetres wide that challenges even the most agile visitors. It is precisely this curious architectural record that Cantina dei Colli Ripani celebrates with its Rosato “Il Vicolo”, a wine that, despite its name, opens up in the glass with surprising generosity and freshness. It is made from a classic Marche blend: 60% Montepulciano and 40% Sangiovese. Here, Montepulciano provides structure, bright colour and a core of crunchy red fruit. Sangiovese, on the other hand, brings its characteristic acidity and floral notes, adding lift and dynamism to the sip. Together they create a perfectly balanced profile, where neither grape variety tries to outshine the other. The grapes undergo a short cryomaceration, meaning a cold contact between skins and must that helps extract the most elegant aromas and a delicate pink hue without weighing the wine down. This is followed by white vinification with gentle pressing and debourbage, a natural clarification technique. The entire process takes place under strictly controlled temperatures to preserve the precious aromatic fraction. In the glass, the wine shines with a bright and inviting pink colour. On the nose, predominantly fruity notes with clear hints of white peach and freshly picked wild strawberry. On the palate it reveals its true nature: a harmonious wine where fruit softness meets vibrant freshness. Not a shy rosé, but an easy-drinking companion that leaves the palate clean and satisfied. Perfect with mussel and clam sauté, local cured meats such as Ciauscolo, or – why not – a gourmet Margherita pizza topped with fresh buffalo mozzarella.
Colli Ripani: we build our future one step at a time. We are in the Marche region, in the hilly area that follows river valleys down to the Adriatic. And we are at about 500 metres above sea level, despite being incredibly close to the coast. This is where Cantina dei Colli Ripani is located, one of the most well-known and productive wineries in the region. Founded in 1969, its first vinification dates back to 1977. Today it relies on the work of over 330 “local” growers, united by the desire to enhance local wine production and particularly the native grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Pecorino and Passerina. The cooperative winery actively supports each member’s work and coordinates all stages of the process: from vineyard work to processing the raw materials, right through to marketing the finished product. This allows members to receive a fair agricultural income, ensuring the sustainability of their work and preserving long-standing traditions.
