"Gibelè" Zibibbo Terre Siciliane IGT - Carlo Pellegrino 1880

The first time you taste Gibelè, Terre Siciliane IGT offered by Pellegrino, it is not unusual to be completely surprised. On the nose, in fact, it gives the sensation of smelling a particularly delicate ladies' perfume. And the word Zibibbo on the label could easily make you think of a sweet wine. On the palate, however, it is a whole different story. A pleasantly dry wine with a natural acidity. Let's be clear, the sweet and delicate notes perceived previously are found again, and in particular the hints of jasmine and lavender, green apple and sweet citrus fruits such as cedar. But all well packaged in a perfect glass as an aperitif or as a companion to an unforgettable dinner of raw fish and shellfish. Then if you don't end up finishing the bottle before you get to dessert, no problem. With a dessert that isn't overly rich, such as a pie or dry cookies, it still knows how to make a gathering enjoyable.

It is certainly not an exaggeration to say that Carlo Pellegrino of Marsala belongs to that small group of Sicilian companies that have made the history of viticulture on the island. And at Pellegrino people are so proud of this achievement that they want to pay homage to the fact that the winery boasts over 140 years of history. Its year of foundation, in fact, is 1880. What makes this long journey truly unique, however, is that the ownership has never changed since then. On the other hand, the company's products have or have evolved a great deal. If in the past, Pellegrino was only known for the production of Marsala, nowadays in addition to the traditional fortified wines it added a range of interesting white and red wines and even passito wines, produced with grapes coming from the winery's estate in Pantelleria. Tradition (long) and innovation (a lot) are today the ingredients of its success that translates into a really wide range of products, sold in Italy and worldwide and characterized by an excellent quality-price ratio.
