Merlot Terre Siciliane IGP 2019

One of the fundamental characteristics of Merlot is its great ability to adapt. A grape variety originating in the Bordeaux region, in Italy, in particular, it has for decades found its chosen land in the cool, temperate regions of the North East. But today, thanks to new techniques and a deeper knowledge of its nature, it is able to give very interesting results even in the regions of southern Italy. This is the case of this pure Merlot proposed by Cantine Fina. Cultivated in vineyards at about 350 metres above sea level, this vine reaches perfect ripeness at the end of August. Fermented in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, the wine matures for about 12 months in barriques before being bottled. Intense ruby red in colour, with purple highlights, the nose reveals hints of currants and ripe plums, with notes of black pepper. In the mouth it is pleasantly rich and round, with soft and well-smoothed tannins. Excellent with red meats, such as roast beef, it can also accompany special dishes such as stewed rabbit.
