80% Corvina, 10% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella. This is the basic "recipe" for this elegant Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG. The grapes, harvested by hand when fully ripe, come from selected vineyards in the hilly area of the appellation, between 150 and 300 metres above sea level. After harvesting, the grapes are placed in ventilated rooms for the slow drying process that lasts at least until the month of December. At that point, when the berries have lost most of their water and the aromas are concentrated, we move on to the vinification phase proper, followed by a long aging in French and American oak barrels for several months. The result is a wine characterized by an intense red colour, with obvious garnet hues due to slow aging. Complex, with red berry fruit notes such as plum and cherry. There are also light spicy and balsamic notes and even a hint of bitter chocolate. In the mouth it is ample and gratifying. A wine with good structure but above all a perfect balance between all its components. An Amarone that is definitely enjoyable, even at the table. The important thing is that the combination is carefully chosen. Such a wine requires decisive and intense flavours.
"Nomen omen," said the ancient Romans. And this saying applies perfectly to the Tinazzi family since, in the Veronese tradition, this term was used to indicate the containers in which the grapes were left to ferment in order to make wine. The history of this fine family business begins in the 1960s. We are on the shores of Lake Garda. Here, in Cavaion Veronese to be precise, Eugenio Tinazzi founded his small winery to produce and sell the wines of the area. With the arrival of his still young son Gian Andrea in the company, Tinazzi began a tumultuous path of growth that led the small Veneto-based company to expand in the main areas of Valpolicella first of all, and then to take the leap and buy new estates in Puglia. Today, Francesca and Giorgio, the third generation, have joined Gian Andrea in the family business. There are still many goals to be achieved and markets to be conquered.
