Don't be misled by the word Cuvée. In this case, it is not a sparkling wine but a blend of different grapes, designed by the winery's oenologist to give complexity and depth to this Terlaner, a 100% South Tyrolean white wine. A historic blend for the winery, obtained from a mixture of the three most traditional varieties grown in Terlano, namely Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. It is a fundamental wine for the winery, which has been producing it since its foundation. An extremely structured wine, its unique profile is largely due to the presence of Pinot Bianco, which gives it freshness and good acidity. Chardonnay, on the other hand, is responsible for giving it softness and warmth, while Sauvignon Blanc adds, as is to be expected, that touch of refined aroma. The winery's experts suggest a traditional pairing with Terlano wine soup for this interesting white wine. However, for those who do not have the opportunity to sip it while gazing at the peaks of the Alps, a more common pairing would be with pizza or pasta with tomato sauce, rosemary focaccia or penne all'arrabbiata. It certainly does not lack versatility.
Founded in 1893, the Terlano Winery is one of the most advanced producers' cooperatives in South Tyrol. Its 143 current members cultivate 190 hectares of vineyards, producing a total of around one and a half million bottles per year, divided into two lines, to which are added some gems of great oenological value. Only DOC wines, particularly whites, are aged in the modern winery, thanks above all to the new area built in 2009, where the wines have all the space they need to grow and develop to their full potential. The Terlano Winery also deserves a special mention from an architectural point of view. On the outside, part of the building has been covered with red porphyry, the typical rock of the area, while the roof of the winery has been greened and covered with vines, thus blending in with the surrounding cultivated landscape. The winery's wine archive is unique in Italy, with 100,000 bottles from 1955 to the present day. However, the cellar also houses some ancient treasures: a few bottles dating back to the year it was founded!
