Pinataro, a pure Aglianico proposed here by Tagaro, is a powerful and typical wine. A great red wine that comes from an accurate vinification of the noblest autochthonous vine of our southern Italy. A generous grape with a thick and colourful skin, it gives life to wines characterised by a very evident tannin that must be managed in the cellar so as not to be difficult or not sufficiently pleasant. Deep ruby red in colour, Pinataro immediately reveals an intense bouquet of ripe red fruit and spices on the nose. In the mouth it is soft and enveloping. The more typical notes of fruit return, although in this case hints of blueberries and blackberries stand out clearly. The tannin, the cross and delight of this grape variety, is soft and ripe. In the mouth it is sweet and well balanced. An intense and rich wine, this Aglianico is perfect with meat dishes, especially red meat, or with game.
There are corners of Italy that should be visited at least once in a lifetime. Among these, in our very personal classification, we include the Itria Valley, the heart of the most authentic Apulia, where the hills are home to vineyards, often ancient, that grow cradled by a mild climate and under a warm and generous sun. Here, on a plateau about 450 metres above sea level, is Masseria Tagaro. Its approximately 40 hectares of vineyards are home to the best-known indigenous grape varieties of reason, which are proudly enhanced and offered in different lines. Traditions and cutting-edge technologies coexist in the ancient masseria to give life, year after year, to authentic wines, respecting the memory of three generations of winegrowers.
