Actually smells more like a still red than a Lambrusco, with none of the typical lifted notes. Yet, that actually makes it quite endearing. This suggests burnt blackberries, grilled redcurrants and dried herbs. Vinous and quite tannic on the palate with subtle bubbles and a relatively chewy, structured finish. Drink now.
Marchese Manodori takes its name from the ancient governor of Reggio Emilia who resided on the Venturini Baldini estate and is a modern Lambrusco, made from organically grown grapes, dry and not sweet, and created from a blend of four different Lambrusco grapes. Marchese Manodori represents one of the highest expressions of Lambrusco Reggiano.
On the hills between Reggio Emilia and Parma, Venturini Baldini has been a producer of organic sparkling and semi-sparkling wines since 1976. In recent years new Charmat and Classic method sparkling wines created by Carlo Ferrini have been added to its historic red Lambrusco. The company aims to be a point of reference for Emilia wine-making.
