Here’s a very generous Dolcetto d’Alba that shows dried blackberries, frozen elderberries, black raspberries and citrus. Firm and structured on the medium-bodied palate, where a steely line of acidity and tannins runs right through the vivacious dark fruit. Quite tannic now, so drink from 2021.
The harvest begins around mid-October. After all, Nebbiolo is a grape that is not in a hurry to ripen, and producers, in order not to risk bringing home bunches that are not quite ready, are forced to risk leaving them in the vineyard until the onset of winter. Quite a risk, especially in the Langa where the cold season is long and severe. Then, once the grapes have arrived in the cellar, the next step is vinification in steel with a prolonged maceration of the skins for about 10/12 days. In the meantime, frequent pumping over ensures the right extraction of colour and tannins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in 500-litre oak tonnaux, where it rests for about a year. The result is a beautiful red, pale ruby with garnet reflections. The nose reveals intense floral aromas of rose and violet, ripe cherry and raspberry with spicy and mineral notes. In the mouth, it amazes for its elegance and the right balance of tannins. Persistent and very pleasant.
Barbaresco and Barolo. Then Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba, Arneis and even Moscato. The production of Azienda Agricola Pietro Rinaldi ranges over practically all the good wines of the Langa. A family tradition that has been handed down for four generations, from father to son with the same great passion. There are a total of 10 hectares of vineyards, all hilly, all with very different soils and exposures. And this is why each plot of land is able to give life to something unique, unrepeatable. Today the farm is run by a young and passionate team, always ready to take up the challenges of the new international markets, without losing sight of its deep ties with the territory of origin. This is another reason why Azienda Agricola Pietro Rinaldi has joined the Green Experience group, for the production of sustainable and organic wines.
