With its cool continental climate, Piedmont is an ideal territory for the production of Pinot Noir. The noblest of the French vines, in fact, shares with Nebbiolo, the noblest of the Italians, the same predilection for a cool climate and the good exposures guaranteed by hilly vineyards. It is no coincidence, then, that this Langhe Pinot Noir proposed by Pecchenino is able to give great satisfaction to those looking for an elegant and versatile wine. Made from pure grapes from the vineyards of Dogliani and Bossolasco, this wine ages in large barrels for about 18 months before being bottled. But it needs at least another six months of resting safely in the cellar for it to be considered ready for real and to hit the shelves. Lively ruby red and not too deep, on the nose it is full of the typical hints of small red fruits and flowers. on the palate it is fresh and extremely balanced. Tannin, acidity and alcohol are medium and well integrated with each other. A great glass for those who want to try a different Piedmont.
What makes Italian wine unique in the world are the many small family businesses that work their vineyards with passion, enhancing the greatest heritage of typical grapes in the world. Among these, in Piedmont, there is the Pecchenino Company, founded at the end of the 1900s by grandfather Attilio and today run by his grandsons, Orlando and - once again - Attilio. In the meantime it has expanded from 8 to 30 hectares split between the municipalities of Dogliani, Monforte d'Alba and Bossolasco. Above all Dolcetto, then Nebbiolo and Barbera, but also Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon. If in the countryside sustainable agriculture is practiced in full respect of the environment, in the winery every production step is aimed at achieving the highest quality.
