In the Italian wine scene, the Aosta Valley stands out for its viticulture, which can be described as ‘heroic’ without exaggeration. It is here, among the majestic peaks and sunny slopes overlooking Aosta, that we find the Ottin winery, the realisation of Elio Ottin's dream. More than a producer, Elio is a true ‘viticulteur encaveur’, heir to a family that has been cultivating this difficult and extraordinary land for generations. Ottin's vineyards are located on the hillsides of the municipalities of Quart and Saint-Christophe, a strategic position that guarantees ideal conditions but at the same time requires constant, entirely manual labour. We are at a significant altitude, around 700 metres, a crucial factor that shapes the character of the wines. For Elio Ottin, quality wine comes from quality grapes. His production is a perfect balance between respect for local traditions and the adoption of modern and sustainable techniques. In the cellar, therefore, the approach is clean and aimed at enhancing what the vineyard has given. Elio seeks persistence and pleasantness in his wines. He does not like excesses, but authenticity that translates into elegance. His wines are sincere, never heavy, but with a structure that promises great ageing potential.
