MONTE ROSSA soc. Agr. Srl - via Monte Rossa 1 - 25040 Bornato di Cazzago S. Martino (BS)
Technically, it could be called the entry wine of the Monte Rossa winery. It certainly represents its calling card, as it is the most popular wine. But this should not make one think of a less valuable product. On the contrary, this Prima Cuvée stands out for its pleasantness and elegance. Its simplicity translates into finesse, immediacy and pleasantness. 'All characteristics,' as the winery's website states, 'that are fundamental for a quality Franciacorta. With 85% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Noir and, interestingly, also 5% Pinot Blanc, this 'charming' bubbly presents itself in the glass with a beautiful straw-yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose expresses clear notes of fresh fruit, pear and peach. Then the ever-present yeasts and bread crust. In the mouth it is harmonious and complex at the same time. Fresh and persistent. Excellent as an aperitif, it pairs beautifully with rich hors d'oeuvres of cold meats and cheeses. Try it with a fish tempura.
A historic winery in Franciacorta, at Monte Rossa the farming tradition has merged harmoniously with technology. Here, craftsmanship and research are managed with commitment and an uncompromising entrepreneurial mentality. Its history began in 1972, when entrepreneur Paolo Rabotti, with the support of his wife Paola, embarked on the road to viticulture. Today it is his son Emanuele who enthusiastically carries on that project. Among the first in Franciacorta to abandon the production of still wines, at Monte Rossa they have always invested in technology, continuing to experiment in the cellar. Today, the company can count on a vineyard of around 70 hectares, divided into numerous crus, on different soils and with different exposures, which contribute to broadening the aromatic heritage of the grapes, to compose cuvées rich in structure and complexity. Annual production is around 500 thousand bottles. All to be savoured.
