    CHARACTERISTICS
    • TypeVino bianco fermo
    • Location Alsace
    • Grapes gewuztraminer 100%
    • Sensations A sparkling appearance with pale yellow reflections. The aromas are open and generous, just like those of a Riesling at the height of its maturity, with a solid imprint that reveals its aristocratic origins. This wine comes from the best marl soils of Riquewihr, which give it a unique salty and full-bodied attack on the palate: you know what you are getting right from the start. The elegant, deep, complex and well-balanced taste is perfectly balanced by the acidity.
    • Vinification The grapes are brought to small vats and pressed by gravity. After pressing, the must is decanted for a few hours, then fermented in barrels or vats at a controlled temperature (18-24°C). The wine is racked once before natural clarification during the winter. The following spring, the wine is lightly filtered. The entire production of this wine is sealed with DIAM corks to prevent contamination.

    Gewürztraminer "Estate" Alsace AOC 2021
    • Today we are in the heart of Alsace, among the hills that surround the picturesque village of Riquewihr. This is where the Gewurztraminer Estate of Famille Hugel is produced, a still white wine made from 100% Gewurztraminer grapes. It is an authentic expression of a unique territory and a centuries-old winemaking tradition. Riquewihr, located between 350 and 500 metres above sea level, benefits from one of the driest microclimates in France, thanks to the natural protection offered by the Vosges mountains. The soils are clayey and highly calcareous, giving the grapes a distinctive richness and minerality. The Gewurztraminer grape variety, known for its intense and spicy aromas, finds its ideal habitat in Alsace, where it expresses its organoleptic characteristics to the fullest. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small vats to the presses, where they are filled by gravity without the use of pumps. After pressing, the must is decanted for a few hours and fermented in temperature-controlled vats. The wine is then racked once before natural clarification during the winter and, in the following spring, lightly filtered for bottling. The entire production is sealed with DIAM corks, which eliminate the risk of contamination. Gewurztraminer Estate has a sparkling appearance with pale yellow reflections. The nose reveals a generous bouquet with notes of white flowers, ripe mango, passion fruit, ginger and pepper. On the palate, it is elegant, deep and complex, with a perfect balance between acidity and structure. The minerality imparted by the terroir adds further facets, culminating in a long and persistent finish. Designed to be enjoyed in its youth to fully appreciate the freshness and liveliness of its aromas, Gewurztraminer Estate pairs well with goat's cheese and prosciutto. It also goes well with oysters, seafood and light fish and shellfish dishes. Finally, its measured aromaticity also makes it ideal with spicy Asian dishes such as curries or ginger-based dishes.
Famille Hugel is a winery that symbolises its territory. For centuries, it has been dedicated to the study and classification of the terroir. Their attention to the vineyard is meticulous, as evidenced by the fact that they limit the production of each individual wine to a maximum of 20-30 rows within a vineyard. This makes Famille Hugel one of the most authoritative experts on zoning in Alsace. It is no coincidence that every year, geologists and terroir experts travel to Alsace to enrich their knowledge by consulting with Hugel. Over time, this approach to classification has enabled the Alsatian company to build a reputation for absolute excellence that has now lasted for 13 generations.
