Barbera d'Asti DOCG 2022

If Nebbiolo is the noble grape par excellence, and it is no coincidence that Barolo is considered the wine of kings and the king of wines, it is Barbera that is the great protagonist of everyday tables. The fresh, territorial red wine that for years was considered too rustic to accompany the most elegant meals but which, over the years, thanks to the commitment of passionate producers like Damilano, has gradually managed to carve out its own special space, acquiring richness and complexity, without losing its ancient popular origins. A fine example of this is this Barbera d'Asti DOCG, processed mainly in steel and cement tanks to preserve its natural freshness. Intense red in colour, this Barbera d'Asti turns a deep purple. Its nose is fruity, with light spicy notes. The flavour, ethereal and persistent in the mouth, recalls hints of currants, violets and cherries, with delicate vanilla notes on the finish. A simple, straightforward wine that knows how to give pleasure even to the simplest of pairings, that with a classic platter of (good) cold cuts and medium-aged cheeses.
