New Zealand
Cloudy Bay Chardonnay is produced in the heart of Marlborough, the iconic New Zealand region that has made this grape variety famous internationally. Here, between sea breezes and mineral-rich soils, an elegant and modern white wine comes to life, capable of expressing the territory with precision and freshness. The glass glows with a bright straw yellow colour, with golden hues that hint at its complexity. The nose reveals a refined bouquet: white peach, crisp citrus, juicy pear and a touch of flint that adds depth. The wood notes, never invasive, enrich the profile with hints of sweet spices and light vanilla. On the palate, it is dynamic and vibrant, supported by a pleasant mineral tension that makes it particularly gastronomic. Ripe fruit intertwines with freshness and savouriness, offering balance and finesse. The finish is long and persistent, with a return of citrus and a velvety caress that invites another sip. A great Chardonnay, ideal with fish dishes, white meats and fusion cuisine. Perfect for those seeking contemporary elegance in every glass.
Located on New Zealand's South Island, in the Marlborough region, the winery takes its name from the bay at the eastern end of the Wairau Valley, which was christened Cloudy Bay by Captain Cook during his voyage to New Zealand in 1770. At the time of Cook's discovery, the rivers were full of mud, which made the waters cloudy. Cloudy Bay exists thanks to the dream of its founder, David Hohnen, former founder of Cape Mentelle, a visionary who made the expression of the terroir through wine his life's mission. In 1983, he tasted a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc for the first time and was so enchanted that he founded Cloudy Bay in 1985. Cloudy Bay is credited with introducing New Zealand wines to the world and making Sauvignon Blanc famous as a single-varietal wine. In 1997, his Sauvignon Blanc was the first New Zealand wine to be included in Wine Spectator's Top 10 list.
