Branko is a company that perfectly embodies the spirit of contemporary Friuli. A small family-run business located in Zegla, a hamlet of Cormòns, it is now the realm of Igor Erzetič, a producer who has taken up his father Branko's legacy and transformed it into a benchmark for lovers of characterful white wines. A “vineyard-garden” with only seven hectares at his disposal, Igor manages the property with almost obsessive care, treating each row as if it were part of a private park. It is not just a question of aesthetics: this small size allows for meticulous, artisanal management. The winery adopts integrated pest management methods, favoring organic formulations to protect the plants. The goal is to bring perfect grapes to the cellar, a faithful reflection of a unique vintage and territory. But what makes Branko's wines so special? The answer lies beneath the vines. We are talking, of course, about the so-called Ponca, the particular soil typical of Collio, composed of alternating marl (calcareous clay) and sandstone (stratified sand) of ancient origin. This soil forces the vines to grow deep, giving the wines an almost crisp savoriness and minerality. The result? Wines that are a concentrate of elegance and freshness, capable of aging with surprising grace.
