Bodega Frutos Villar boasts a century of history in the heart of Spain. This is not just a winery, but a true wine dynasty that for over a hundred years has travelled across the most striking landscapes of northern Spain, carrying with it a wealth of experience that few can match. Everything began in 1920 in Villavendimio, a small village in the province of Zamora. Here, founder Frutos Villar laid the foundations of the company, initially focusing on the Toro area. At the time, the wines of this region were known for their remarkable power and high alcohol content, characteristics that made them mainly “blending wines”. However, the vision of the Villar family was different: they wanted to elevate that strength, transforming it into elegance and quality. This is how the historic Muruve brand was born, which still represents one of the winery’s flagship labels today. Now in its fourth generation, the Villar family continues to run the business with the same spirit as their grandfather Frutos. Their philosophy is a compelling blend of tradition and modernity. In the cellar, the most advanced technologies are used to ensure the utmost purity of the fruit, yet the heart still beats for manual work in the vineyard and for respect of natural ripening times.
