    Amarone della Valpantena DOCG
  • For the many fans of the famous Veronese wine, the Amarone, Bertani is certainly one of the undisputed legends. Its winery in Grezzana, after all, is located in the heart of one of the most appreciated areas, namely the Valpantena. A very interesting territory where, thanks to a very special microclimate, the grapes are able to reach a perfect state of ripeness even in the less happy vintages. The one offered here is a decidedly modern Amarone. Not excessive, therefore, but pleasantly balanced and elegant. A wine that is easy to drink, despite its 14.5 percent alcohol, thanks to pleasantly fruity notes of cherry and blackberry, but above all to a particularly smooth and silky taste. A wine that is good today but that can easily wait in the cellar for several more years, even ten. To be uncorked, with satisfaction, when the menu includes very tasty dishes or, as many experts recommend, even at the end of the meal, perhaps in combination with a sliver of dark chocolate or a piece of well-aged cheese.

Brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, back in 1857, founded what is now considered a symbol of Valpolicella. After all, the Bertani's company had launched with the best possible start given that the two brothers were certainly not unprepared, as they were even students of no less than famous professor Guyot, in France. Today the company can count on a vineyard of over two hundred hectares, split among some of the best areas of the province of Verona. The main estate is the one that surrounds the historic Villa Novare to which the Grezzana winery has been added and that today represents the headquarter of the winery. From its cellars come some of the most beloved red wines from the Veneto region. And certainly some of the most awarded ones by international wine critics. Since 2011, it has been part of the large Tenimenti Angelini group and since 2014 it has introduced itself to the world with its new name: "Bertani Domains". With a total capacity of over two million bottles per year, this is certainly not a small artisanal winery. But the class of its wines represents a point of reference for everyone.
