"Vriccio" Primitivo Puglia IGT 2020 - Antica Enotria

Primitivo, together with Negroamaro and Nero di Troia, is one of the most famous indigenous Apulian grape varieties and one of the ten most widely grown in the region. A fine example is this Vriccio, Primitivo IGT Puglia, an organic red wine proposed here by Antica Enotria. The Primitivo reaches full ripeness early, towards the end of August. After harvesting and soft pressing, the must macerates with the skins and ferments at a controlled temperature for 12 days. During this phase, frequent pumping over and delestage allow for proper oxygenation of the mass and better extraction of colour and aromas. After racking, Vriccio matures in steel for 12 months and then in the bottle for a further four. A soft wine on the whole, it is characterised by its ruby red colour and its aroma of plums and jam. In the mouth it is fresh and pleasant. It has well-integrated soft tannins and a nice aromatic persistence. An ideal wine to accompany red meat and game dishes. Also excellent with wild boar. Try it with classic pappardelle!

Since 1993, the year of their first harvest, the Di Tuccio family, the soul of the Antica Enotria company, has been cultivating their land with love. Preserving the tradition of taste, with a single objective: the genuineness of the products. This is why, right from the start of their adventure, they decided to obtain organic certification. After all, organic farming is a lifestyle choice for the family, not just a simple cultivation method. Just as the wine they produce is the result of a process that tells the story of the bond between man and land. Antica Enotria is located in Cerignola, Apulia. Here, a fortunate and unrepeatable mix of climatic conditions, soil and air allow the grapes grown in their vineyards, which extend from the hinterland almost to the sea, to reach full maturity. Aromas and flavours that are enhanced thanks to a careful selection process and to the modern processing cellar located inside the ancient Contessa Staffa farm, a noble building dating back to 1700.
