The Andrea Oberto Barbera d'Alba is a simple and stripped-down expression that sticks to the basics of the grape. The fruit is naked and pure, with dark cherry, plum and black currant. There is a slightly dried element to the primary fruit with prune and a touch of summer fig. In the mouth, this is a slender, mid-weight wine with some noticeable alcoholic heat (measured at 14.5%) and mild acidity. Fruit comes from La Morra, and the wine ages in neutral oak for a brief four months.
There’s a touch of sultana here with candied oranges and cloves, pushing this into marginally overripe territory. Nevertheless, the palate carves out an enjoyable texture with some pretty acidity. Drink now.
Barbera, the good kind like this one proposed by Andrea Oberto, always gives great satisfaction. Because it is a simple wine and naturally endowed with great pleasantness. A wine made to accompany with satisfaction a snack of cold cuts and cheeses or to be combined with a simple local dish such as a beaten beef. In short, it certainly doesn't lack versatility. San Giuseppe, Barbera d'Alba, comes from a simple processing at controlled temperature and a maturation in wood of 12 months. In the glass it has a beautiful deep ruby red color with violet hues. On the nose it reveals an ample bouquet, with wood in evidence but well blended with spicy and cherry notes. on the palate, the pleasant acidity, typical of the grape variety, blends perfectly with a fresh and still crunchy fruit. An excellent drink today, in the prime of its youth, this Barbera is in no hurry to finish in the glass. In the cellar it can easily continue to mature for another 10 years.
Fourteen hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Langhe. The location is in La Morra, one of the legendary municipalities that fall under the Barolo appellation. It was here, in 1959, that the story of Andrea Oberto's winery began. He has been running it with passion and competence since 1978 with a single objective: to consolidate the initial project, making the wine of the farm a popular and quality product. A success. In fact, today Oberto's winery can count on an annual production of about 80 thousand bottles that reach the markets of Piedmont halfway around the world, to the satisfaction of many lovers of quality wines.
