AZIENDA ACRICOLA ACCORNERO GIULIO E FIGLI
Produced in 'limited edition', Girotondo is a Monferrato Rosso DOC. It is one of the good wines produced by the Accornero company. It is made from 100% Nebbiolo, harvested in a small estate vineyard. First produced in 2006, this Accornero red is made using traditional submerged cap processing. To favour the extraction of colour, aromas and tannins, frequent pumping over is carried out. At the end of the transformation, the wine also undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation in French oak tonneaux. The wine is neither filtered nor cold stabilised but continues its maturation period, again in tonneaux, for about 12 months. In the glass it has a beautiful garnet red colour. The nose reveals aromas of great finesse. It is elegant, with hints of fruit, such as cherry and raspberry, as well as hints of dried flowers. In the mouth, however, it is pleasantly savoury and fresh, with thick, ripe tannins. A fine traditional wine that calls for a classic local pairing. Excellent with mixed boiled meats and more generally with a second course of meat.
A fine family history. In fact, the Accornero family have proudly been winegrowers for five generations. And since 1897 they have continued to produce high quality wines with the same passion and commitment that drove their great-grandfather Bartolomeo in the beginning. Accornero is located in the heart of Monferrato, in an area defined as the land of Barbera and Grignolino. The winery is located in the municipality of Vignale Monferrato. Here is Ca' Cima, with a vineyard area of 25 hectares. The family's aim is to produce wines that are strongly linked to the territory. To do this, they manage the vineyards in a way that respects the land and the environment, and after the harvest (by hand) the best grapes are taken to a cellar that is equipped with all the latest technology. Innovation, therefore, but also a lot of tradition, since all production processes remain the same as in the past.
