CHARACTERISTICS

  • Grapes Sangiovese 95%, Cabernet Sauvignon 5%
  • Sensations Brilliant ruby red colour with an austere garnet hue. The nose is intense with notes of red fruits and violets. The palate has a soft entry. The vibrant freshness makes the finish fruity and extremely pleasant.
  • Vinification The grapes are harvested by hand, placed in 200 kg bins and transported to the winery, where they are destemmed and selected through a vibrating sorting belt and pressed. This is followed by a maceration of 10-12 days, depending on the vintage, with frequent pumping over at a temperature of 28 ?C. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally. The wine is put into 18 hl barrels where it ages for 9 months. This is followed by 12 months of refinement in the bottle.

Chianti Superiore DOCG is the bearer of all the typical characteristics of the denomination, starting with its brilliant red colour. Garnet veins lend austerity to the glass, giving Chianti Superiore suggestions of value. Hints of violets and red fruits populate a complex bouquet, very rich and intense. On the palate it is soft, compact in its sensations and linked by coherent aromas. The finish closes with an unexpected fruity freshness. Usiglian del Vescovo hits bullseye with this Chianti Superiore DOCG, a red wine with an unmistakable Tuscan character.

    Anno Domini 1078. it is then that the history of Usiglian del Vescovo begins, at that time a feud of the bishops of Lucca known by the name of Usigliano di Palaia. Protagonist of the evolution of many fortified structures into farm-villas, Usiglian del Vescovo has never for a single moment lost the strong link that ties it to the area. Today the new winery is 14 years old: built in 2004, it combines historical elements with technological grafts, showing an ancient and modern face at the same time. A winery of value, which has been able to preserve and cultivate a strong relationship with a terroir that has given Italian wine fame and honours throughout the world.
