"Modà" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC 2022

In the field of wine, Abruzzo is certainly the standard-bearer. We are obviously talking about Montepulciano, a generous grape variety capable of producing wines of great intensity. Wines that in recent years have finally been able to stand out for their quality, receiving very flattering judgments from the strictest wine critics. This is the case of this Modà, 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo proposed by Tenuta Talamonti. Produced exclusively from selected grapes and hand-picked in mid-October in the estate vineyards of Loreto Aprutino. We are at the foot of the Maiella, about 300 metres above sea level, in an ideal position for vine cultivation, thanks to excellent exposure and a climate mitigated by the relative proximity of the sea. Vinification is traditional, in temperature-controlled steel vats. The wine then matures in 34 hectolitre French casks for a period of about 6 months, followed by at least a further 2 months of bottle ageing. Brilliant ruby red in colour with violet hues, Modà presents intense and persistent notes of fresh cherries, plums and raspberries. On the palate it is particularly rich and concentrated, with evident flavours of small red fruits and a remarkable structure. A wine that is not afraid to sit in the cellar for a few years waiting for the right occasion to be uncorked, the ideal combination is with savoury first courses, large roasts and medium-aged cheeses.
