Società Agricola Selva Capuzza 25015 Desenzano del Garda - Brescia - Italia
It is no secret that, among the white wines produced on Lake Garda, a special place in the minds of wine lovers is certainly reserved for Lugana DOC. Here, in particular, Selva Capuzza offers one of its most iconic wines, produced from 100% Turbiana grapes, harvested in the area of Desenzano del Garda, on the Brescia side of the lake. The grapes are harvested manually before they reach an advanced stage of ripeness. Once in the cellar, they undergo a soft pressing. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a low temperature using selected yeasts. During the following winter months, the wine matures in contact with its fine lees, kept in suspension by means of frequent bâtonnage. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful pale straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. The bouquet is delicate, slightly austere in some stages of maturation. Hints of citrus fruits, apple and hay prevail. Balanced, fresh and easy-drinking, it is the right wine to accompany fish starters, white meats and fresh cheeses. Due to its citrus nature, it also goes well with delicate shellfish dishes.
It is rightly one of the most touristy and beautiful areas in Italy. We are on the shores of Lake Garda, straddling the regions of Lombardy and Veneto. Here you will find Selva Capuzza, an estate dedicated to wine production from the area's six indigenous grape varieties. The Podere, located about 4 km from the southern shores of the lake, is in a privileged, gently hilly position and lies within the borders of the three main DOC wines of the Brescia side of Lake Garda: Garda Classico, San Martino della Battaglia and, above all, the Lugana area. There is also ample open space dedicated to biodiversity, with olive trees, a wood that originated as a truffle ground, centuries-old mulberry trees and two small lakes. Podere Selva Capuzza takes its name from the locality in which it is located. 'Silvae', in fact, was the name used in Roman times to describe the country areas south of the lake, while 'Capuzza' may originate from its elevated position, at the beginning of the hills of the Garda morainic amphitheatre, on the 'cap' that lies a few hundred metres from the tower of San Martino della Battaglia.
