Imbottigliato all'origine da Ottella di Francesco e Michele Montresor Località Ottella, 1 – San Benedetto di Lugana / 37019 Peschiera del Garda (VR)
To truly understand a wine, experts say, you have to look at its land. A good example of this is Lugana DOC. A name that evokes the freshness and light of the lake, but which has its roots in clay soil, rich in minerals and history. We are located between Lake Garda and the rolling morainic hills, where the soil, once the lake bed, is a real gold mine for winemakers. In particular, the Le Creete area, from which this wine takes its name, is characterised by white, compact clay, rich in mineral salts, which gives the wines a unique flavour and elegance. The Montresor family, owners of the Ottella winery, has a history deeply intertwined with the Lugana area. As early as the 1800s, the family villa was renowned for its high-quality grapes. The appellation regulations require the use of a single grape variety, Turbiana, or Trebbiano di Lugana, which finds its maximum expression here. This local clone of Trebbiano di Soave is perfectly suited to the clayey soils, developing a vibrant acidity and a structure that allows it to evolve over time, transforming its aromas from fresh and fruity to more complex and mineral. The grapes used to produce “Le Creete” come from vineyards located in the historic Lugana area. The grapes are harvested by hand and taken to the winery for soft pressing. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks to keep all the primary aromas of the grapes intact. The wine is then aged for about 6 months in cement tanks, on its own yeasts - “sur lie” - acquiring body, complexity and a pleasant sensation of fullness on the palate. In the glass, Le Creete has a bright straw yellow colour, embellished with greenish reflections. On the nose, the aromatic range is a riot of freshness. Notes of white fruit, such as peach and apple, are immediately apparent, complemented by citrus hints of lime and grapefruit. There is also a floral touch of hawthorn. On the palate, it is vibrant and savoury, with an immediately appealing drinkability. The taste is clean, with a well-balanced acidity that makes it lively and never tiresome. The finish is long and persistent, with a return of citrus notes and a mineral trail that invites you to take another sip. Already good today, it has decent ageing potential, even 5-8 years, during which it will develop more complex notes of hydrocarbons, flint and honey, while maintaining its distinct acidity.
To talk about Ottella is to talk about Lugana, wines and territory. The winery is located in San Benedetto di Lugana, on the Veronese side of Lake Garda, an area that has had a deep connection with viticulture for centuries. Here, brothers Francesco and Michele Montresor passionately carry on a family legacy dating back to 1905. Ottella's strength lies in its ability to interpret the Lugana terroir with rigour and creativity. In the vineyard, of course, the utmost attention is paid, with low yields, care for individual plots and great respect for natural cycles. In the cellar, technology goes hand in hand with tradition to enhance the purity of the fruit and the aromatic complexity of the wines. The winery was designed as a meeting place, where art, architecture and nature interact with daily work. It is a space that perfectly reflects the Montresor family's identity, with great attention to detail, good aesthetic taste and a desire to share. Another distinctive feature of the Ottella winery is its sensitivity to environmental sustainability, achieved through careful agricultural practices, reduced impact in the vineyard and solutions that enhance biodiversity. This choice is not only ethical but also strategic. Preserving the land means ensuring continuity and quality for future generations.
