Legras & Haas, founded in 1991 in Chouilly at the heart of the Côte des Blancs, represents the perfect balance between the freshness of a family-run estate and the prestige of one of the world’s most renowned wine-growing areas. The story of the house began with the union of Brigitte Haas and François Legras, two names carrying centuries of winemaking tradition. Today, the winery is led by their three sons — Rémi, Olivier and Jérôme — each bringing his own sensitivity, though united by a shared goal. They are not trying to craft the “perfect” Champagne according to textbooks, but rather a Champagne capable of expressing their own idea of harmony. Their approach is direct and free from unnecessary embellishment. Despite operating in a village classified as Grand Cru, they have maintained remarkable humility and transparency. Their style is not built on excess or baroque complexity, but on a purity of expression that speaks directly to the heart of the drinker. The estate remains based in Chouilly, a legendary village for lovers of fine sparkling wines. Here, Chardonnay reigns supreme. The soil is dominated by chalk, giving the wines razor-sharp minerality and vibrant freshness. Yet Chouilly has a distinctive character compared to other Grand Crus: it naturally produces wines that are more generous, rounded and welcoming. The Champagnes of Legras & Haas reflect this personality perfectly. Elegant without ever feeling distant. Complex, yet incredibly approachable.
