"Pietra dei Lupi" Nero di Troia DOC 2017

Pietra dei Lupi is a Castel del Monte DOC Nero di Troia. Cascine Carpentiere, an Apulian winery that has repeatedly distinguished itself for its profound attention to the enhancement of the region's rich ampelographic heritage, offers it here. The company vinifies its grapes in a modern and technologically avant-garde structure, following, however, processing techniques more in keeping with tradition. In this case, the Nero di Troia grapes are skilfully vinified and the wine produced is left to age in medium-sized, 7.5 hectolitre Slovenian oak barrels. The result is a red wine characterised by a ruby red colour with lively violet reflections. The nose reveals notes of small red fruits, especially blackberry, and pleasant hints of undergrowth. In the mouth it is pleasantly complex and soft, with an intriguing velvety texture. A well-balanced wine, it goes well with savoury first courses, grilled meats and mature cheeses.
